83 George St., East Fremantle - An Art Installation Integrating Health & Wellbeing

Azure Health Pty Ltd commissioned myself to develop a vision for an art installation as well as the interior design, for their turn of the century space at 83 George St, East Fremantle.  Their new George St. location was to be a unique concept within their stable of 20 clinics, the partners at Azure wanted their health practice to have an industrial style fit-out, with an art gallery space. The intention was to integrate art with health and wellbeing, the art playing a role in the healing of the clients when they come in for treatments.

I worked with Azure to create a space that would work for the clinicians needs for the practice, and which would also hold a strong space for the client’s experience. My intention was for the space to be nourishing, comforting and supportive. The staff, as well as many of the patients have reported that the space and art makes them feel very relaxed and inspired.

We were fortunate to have a fantastic team to work on this project including, Paul Simon & his crew from Trademark Constructions, electrician and lighting specialist Martin Gasser, and many more contractors to whom contributed to the overall vision. The result was a space that feels both light, spacious and grounded and quite unique for a health practice. Through the reflections in the large front mirror, multiple artworks can be seen from different angles, creating a powerful story when viewed together. The layout has a funnel effect of leading you down a hallway to the practitioner rooms, and finally down to an open space at the back which can expand and shift depending on the needs of the George St Podiatry team, from meeting room to workshops.

A collection of ten my artworks are currently on display at George St. Podiatry. The collection was curated especially for the newly renovated space at 83 George St., East Fremantle, and will continue to evolve with new artworks over time.
